There is no God.

We need a solid atheist movie to counter these dumb Christian propaganda movies.

reply

Saying there's no God is just as dumb as saying there is one. Nobody knows. Just say it is unlikely he's found in a thousands of year old poorly written book about how to treat your slaves and how black people are cursed and about how God is kind of a vindictive prick. Just say the Bible is silly, but there might be a God. It's very possible.

reply

The Bible is silly. I'll agree on that.

I swear to God I'll pistol whip the next guy who says "Shenanigans."

reply

Saying there is no God is an unfounded claim. Thus the reason that it isn't only Christians that have a burden of proof.

reply

Virtually 0% of atheists make the positive claim that there is no god. Almost 100% of them say that some kind of creator is a possibility. I am guessing OP did it just to inflame the Christians.

Your misunderstanding of the atheist position and debate logic is so rampant across this board that quite frankly it is not possible to miss.

reply

I am saying there is no god. No possibility of a creator.

Atheism is a belief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods. Maybe you're thinking of your agnostic friends.

Religilous wasn't a solid atheist (or more specifically anti-theist, which is what the original poster really is) movie?

it was 'trying to promote the scam of anti-theism.'

Family Guy regularly does the same thing on a weekly basis, there's secular liberal propaganda all over the media, I mostly just avoid it.

Not sure why it's so hard for obnoxious anti-theists to do the same with films like this that don't appeal to them.

And these movies aren't made to 'convert people.' If they end up doing that for someone that's great, but it's hardly the point. They're made to inspire those that agree with the message of the film(s) to be more passionate and pro-active with their faith.

This isn't a Christian propaganda movie. It caters to its base, which is mainly American protestant christians. Trust, if you don't fit in with that demographic, you won't be swayed.

If you're an atheist (or if you are some of a faith other than fundamentalist christian), why are you watching this movie? You already know exactly what it's going to be like. At least you can have peace knowing that this movie doesn't garner more converts.

Which is about 200,000,000 demons unleashed by God right after the Rapture during the Apocalypse.. Here's the Bible section

Revelation 9:13-21

13 The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the four horns of the golden altar that is before God.

14 It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.”

15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind.

16 The number of the mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand. I heard their number.

17 The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates
were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and sulfur.

18 A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths.

19 The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.

20 The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands;
they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk.

21 Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts
.

In the REAL prophecy, that is, the Bible.... Earth is under the control of Satan, the Lord of the Earth who lost the war in heaven he waged against God. And God sent archangel Michael and his army to evict Satan from.Heaven and cast him down to Earth. Satan then waged war on Eve and her offspring (woman of the Apocalypse) and Armageddon is Satan's last stand. His last chance to hold on to humanity and keep his stronghold over "those who dwell on Earth." Stopping the Apocalypse is working for Satan.... Only Satan wants to stop the Apocalypse so he can rule the Earth... but Bible prophecy says his last stand fails...

In the Bible, God is the one who unleashes 200,000,000 (200 million) DEMONS upon mankind as set forth in Revelation 9:13. Their purpose is to torment mankind and KILL 1/3 of mankind (plague) leaving ONLY those behind who refuse to repent for their idolatry, murders, sexual immortality, thefts...etc. If we do the math, yes it is the demons who are removing the Word of God from the planet leaving alone only those who reject God's word....leaving them so they can go on to take the mark of the beast (devil, antichrist).

But, why would a loving God torment with demons for 5 months??? And let them kill people? maybe....Grace... To better define the eternal CHOICE we all have in this life. Maybe to teach his flock while they are STILL alive in flesh, what HELL will be like if folks don't repent. Better to suffer 5 months of torment, then die and go to Heaven than to stick around, stay selfish in rejecting God, take the mark of the beast, live 6 more years, then die anyway and spend eternity in the Lake of Fire a/k/a Hell... Tribulation is supposed to last 7 years between rapture and the end of everything...

The irony of all this is that in the Bible, the demons are assisting in God's plan arguably. How? Well, you have to choose between accepting God and eternal life after mortal death or rejecting God, taking the mark of the beast, and following the Dragon (Satan) to spiritual death after mortal death. If you are not one of the faithful during the reaping under the 6th seal of Revelation (the Rapture), then you are stuck to ride out the Apocalypse for 7 years under the mark of the Anti Christ.

It doesn't look too bad, actually. Depends on how far they go though both in terms of intensity and preachiness. I'd give it a shot though.

I don't know what you're ranting about past that, though.

I'll actually agree with you on the over rant part. It was a cut paste job from the Sleepy Hollow board where I'm considered a troll. There are atheists here. But... the Wiccans dwell on that board. Hmmmmmm.... I was pointing out how Sleepy Hollow is a disaster of a show (they twist Revelation and even call it Revelations with an s). BUT... you CAN get Revelation RIGHT while sticking to scripture and it can still be a movie filled with paranormal (that may be the wrong word) activity. Because in Revelation 9:13 In the ACTUAL Bible, God unleashes 200,000,000 demons.. And what is terrifying (or should be to all of us) is that St. John says he was given an exact NUMBER of the demon count 10000 x 10000 x 2.. which is 200 million....And offers excruciating detail as to what they looked like.

Not only that, but he reports their purpose, how they do it and their effect (KILL 1/3 of those on Earth)...That's worse than any horror movie I've ever seen for sure. Or worse than any nuclear war that has ever occurred in mankind.

That movie is really scary.... Because it is premised on actual scripture and they don't twist it. It's accurate. It does have a message of Choose God...but...I mean... they are getting torn up by demons in between that... so the movie is interesting...

BUT... as to the ACTUAL Bible....

If St. John can actually SEE these creatures, then (at least to me) I think we can be assured that they will be SEEN and PHYSICALLY felt by those "Remaining" after the 6th seal of the Apocalypse... ie, rapture...

What is important about the stuff about the War in heaven that I included (which you might not know about unless you've read the Book of Enoch from the Dead sea Scrolls) as well as the part about the war in heaven in the New or Old Testament is that God sent archangel Michael and his army to defeat Lucifer (the fallen angel) before life here began, and Lucifer/Satan was cast down to Earth where he then decided to create chaos and decided to deceive Eve and her offspring (us) trying to lead all of US away from God so he could rule the Earth.... SPIRITUALLY..... that is why Earth is not paradise and man is corrupt and full of sin.

God had Michael and his angels confine these demons in he'll. God has the power to do anything. He is God. He apparently (according to Revelation) has been confining them there until he wants to use them at End Times. Like I said, maybe to show the skeptics their ONLY TWO options. The Earth will be no more. They can't remain here. Flesh dies. So either choose God and eternal paradise or the alternative where the seasons are defined etc and in the Book of Enoch it says something like that.... Enoch was Noah's great grandfather.... so he saw this vision hundreds of years before Christ was born and St. John went to Patmos and saw his vision of Revelation and the end of time...but they all fit together in a VERY creepily perfect way...

The wages of sin is death... spiritual death.. but Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins so we could get entry into Heaven (cleared the slate for us in the eyes of God...kind of a new wave of attack against Apollyon/Satan/Lucifer/the Lord of the Earth)

The ONLY thing that is asked of us is that we BELIEVE.... hence...."Do you Believe?" And if so, what are you going to do about it? All that is asked is to ask forgiveness from God for doubting him, give your life up to him (the cross) put your life in his hands, trust his plan, and watch the miracles happen. It's not INSTANTANEOUS.... but, if you open your eyes and ears, one day you will get that wave of warmth, a tear will swell, and a rush of comfort that "Oh my God, this life is not the end of the line, and there is more and God has ALWAYS been there and I know where I'm going....". When and if it happens, it's breathtaking...

P.S. I just started reading the Bible last year....I was raised Catholic (now I just consider myself a believer).... we never did Bible study growing up...I started reading it when I saw God's Not Dead...I had no idea what an AWESOME read it was...then I started reading the Nag Hammadi.... the Dead Sea scrolls... watching History of the Bible stories on YouTube... and reading about the history of the Bible. It's amazing how eerily compatible all the books are, archeology is supporting the stories etc....

It's a great story. Not many atheists would deny that the Bible is full of fantastic tales.

There might be. No one knows for sure.

It's not so much about religion as it is about a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus and growing spiritually. When you give your life to Jesus, everything is better and there's nothing greater than having God living within you, The Holy Spirit.

Jesus is above all, my Lord and Savior. He died for me and I live my life for Him.

This is always the silliest argument. It's not religion, man, it's spirituality. We just want to grow closer to Christ, man.

Still, it's a marked improvement over dogmatism so props, I guess.
