Looking forward to season 2... Dont get the bad press.

Love the show couldnt stop watching it. Seems to have wierdly got some bad press not sure if netflix is greasing someones palms or something but thankfully viewers are making there own minds up.

Hope it gets more episodes as I want to see more of the characters and maybe more into the judges backroom deals. Seems the show has many paths it could take. Anyway I love it :).

I thought it was fabulous. Lords knows its far better than the ludicrous Sons Of Anarchy.

Some people just don't like God. Scares them away even before they know what the story is about.

reply

it is so hard to tell what is decent these days when shill masochistic trite nonsense like sons of anarchy is considered premium storytelling.

I hope this one is decent..

SoA went off the rails big time, but... it was very addictive

+1, this was a great show. I'm sad I finished the whole first season and a second season doesn't even have a release date or even started filming so it's going to be a good 6-8 months before we probably see anything. The critics are wrong on this one.

reply

"Get off mah lawn!!" Yeah, it sucks that they no longer make quality
programming like Three's Company,Sanford and Son, All In The Family
etc etc etc, all great TV shows!!! Tv used to be so intelligent and
life-affirming! The good old days... NOW GET OFF MAH LAWN!!!!

I too hope there is another season. Started watching it and couldn't stop until the end. Was on the edge of my seat trying to figure it out. I was even tempted to cheat and go to the last episode but was so glad I didn't!

This is a great show full of twist and turns with red herrings. Everything a suspenseful drama is supposed to be. As it unfolded I was shocked and in awe. Much better than True Detective seasons one and two combined.

Most people will not watch it because they assume it is a religious show. Those who believe in God will call it blasphemy, those who don't believe will be disappointed as well. Now I will have to play catch up on everything I have ignored watching but I have no regrets.

reply

Why would it be called blasphemy ?

I, as a Christian, liked the show, as it is realistic - people tend to sin, to make mistakes, to minsinterpret etc, it is very normal and usual.
Christians are not perfect, only Christ is. Why would a show portray that differently ?

reply

Cosign! I love it, not to surprised about the critics though, they always kick up a storm when a tv show or movie takes some shots at religion. I found the acting, cinematography and audio where really well done.

reply

Feels like the critics tried to kill this show for some reason, but damn if it isn't an interesting, strange ride. I'm about to start episode eight.

reply

Very well written show, visually awesome solid cast. I don't get the critics nothing in it bothered me, just made me want to see more. It must be that whatever reaction they have is heightened specially it they feel they need to maintain the status quo.

reply

Can't agree with you more.... I looked around at the reviews and was astonished lol I can't tell if it's only because of the religious portion or, in part, because of casting (I have my own theories about that one and I think it plays a larger problem than most news/magazine reviewers would let on anyway), but I was surprised by how good it ended up being. I hope it gets more episodes as well.

reply

I just finished it and thought it was awesome!!!!

Lose the Game!!!!!!!

Loved the pilot but thought the first season couldve been better. The pacing seemed quite off in the middle of the season.

The show needs less character development of Tessy and her son / Tessy love triangle w/ Pernell / The judge's wife smoking pot, and more focus on uncovering the mystery of why and who raped Jocelyn.

reply

I hope we get more episodes as well good sir.
I never trust reviews for movies and shows.

reply

I just caught up on this and other than all of the Tessie scenes which I fast-forwarded through most of... I Loved it... right up until the last scene. The guy is a judge... made comments throughout about putting people away because of a cell phone, etc... then he leaves vomit on a dead body? Even someone who doesn't know the law would know better than that. The entire show became a joke at that point. I thought for sure it would end up belonging to that kid who hid there and he just didn't tell anyone... hoped anyway.

reply

The vomit bothered me when it happened, but upon further reflection it sort of fits. Pernell 100% believes at that point he is being guided by god. He believed putting the body somewhere to be found will help him on his quest, vomit or no vomit.

I like that the show keeps it completely ambiguous whether he is really being guided by god or whether he is just delusional and subconsciously putting pieces together. But him leaving the vomit makes it look like he is acting completely irrationally to the viewers. But I think it stays right in line with all his other actions throughout the show.
