Then why not throw himself out the window? This would at least draw attention to the situation. I also feel like that fire extinguisher would have been more effective at breaking a window.

He was hoping to hide and survive long enough for the other players to win the game. Trying to break the window again would have been the opposite of hiding.

Hence
