The action sequences in modern Hollywood blockbusters

http://officialfan.proboards.com/thread/562009/action-sequences-modern-hollywood-blockbusters

Does anyone else have issue with the action sequences in Hollywood films nowadays?

The worst offenders for this are the marvel films but rogue one is another example.

Films like this are usually entertaining for the first 1/2 - 2/3's but then they build up to these overly long action sequences that go for anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour towards the end with very little change of pace to break it up.

There are so many explosions and lights flying around the screen it becomes impossible to follow and the fact they stay at the same pace for so long means the action has little impact and gets very tiring.

Trying to watch guardians of the galaxy 2, loved it up until the last action sequence, every-time I try and continue watching it I get overwhelmed and bored quickly and give up. Frantic action can be effective in short bursts but not when its going on for hours.

It's like just because you have the budget and technology to do something doesn't mean you should.

I expect I'm alone or in a minority on this as these films make a lot of money and are universally acclaimed.

I get that they're meant to be big dumb films you're not meant to think about too much but I can't think about them at all when I'm getting bored and fatigued by action scenes that should be impressive but just throw too much at the wall and last too long and end up causing me to get bored and stop paying attention.

I agree. It seems that there is always an action sequence in the middle of these films that are more memorable for fans, too. Those actions sequences are usually shorter and have a role in the rising action of the plot, which makes the audience more involved.

Yes, there was far too much chasing and fighting. The opening credits action scene went on for too long, then within five minutes there was another long chase/fight scene. The giant battle between Kurt Russell and the blue guy at the end of the movie was so long I kept dozing off, and each time I woke up it was still going on.

I loved it
Laughed out loud a bunch of times
I enjoyed the funny lines and the great big fight scenes were good, silly fun...
Sometimes a big dumb goofy blockbuster is just what i need
I honestly get tired of serious/great/meaningful films sometimes...

I am A massive Action Fan....so I love Huge Action Climaxs....

but I'm sorry what you are describing takes place in nearly every film...

IMO the best example are the Transformers films....These films literally have no other purpose but to build toward a Massive Action Climax....

I take issue with what you are saying about the Marvel films because believe it or not, exactly what you are describing is what I want, and WE haven't got it yet, and believe me I've been waiting and looking...

"action sequences that go for anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour towards the end with very little change of pace to break it up."

This is what I want in A CBM^

ever since The Avengers Which IMO had the greatest CLIMAX in CBM history, I've been watching and hoping another CBM approaches the greatest and level of action that The Avengers had...Especially with The MCU films

but These haven't...The MCU films with the exception of The Avengers have Climax's between 10- to 25 Mins(closer to 15 to 20 Mins)....Not Even The Avengers had a climax over 25 Mins...

Rogue ONe had a very long climax and is IMO a better example than The Marvel Films...

Even Snyders DCEU films are better example than Marvel Films....

But I think overall your missing a very HUGE POINT here....

at least with CBMs, This is never going to change....Audiences by the majority come to CBMs to see Superheroes in ACTION...They want to see Superheros in HUGE, Great action sequences...now YOU dont have to like that, But Most do, specifically With CBMs...

it seems you may just want to stop watching Superhero movies, if you dont like long, Action Climaxs, Then I'm sorry CBM's just arent for you, THe overwhelming Majority of all CBM's and future CBMs are all going to have these Climaxs
