I liked this movie better when it was called Drive and starred Ryan Gosling
This movie just took the movie Drive and changed some character and made a few changes, fucking pathetic, get some original idea why don't you?

shareThe two movies are absolutely nothing alike.
shareA stoic cool calm collected guy driving around criminals as a getaway driver, sounds about the same to me, the trailers sure as shit seem to make it look that way.
shareThe main character being a getaway driver is literally the only thing the two have in common.
shareThat sounds like it could be a Transporter movie as well. 😆 So with that in mind, is it safe to say that Drive stole its ideas from said movie? Nah. Drive obviously made a big impact, but it can hardly be called completely original itself... For example, 1978's The Driver is said to have inspired Drive a great deal.
shareI liked it better when it was called "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone". They just modernized it a bit, added some music, made Hermoine a waitress and Voldemort a modern criminal and taught Harry to drive. Why can't they get some original ideas?
shareRather as Edgar Wright "homage" about every cop movie ever made with "Hot Fuzz," here he's running a riff on an established film type that goes back farther than Drive:
Drive
The Transporter
The Driver (1978...Ryan O'Neal)
Charley Varrick(1973)
The Getaway (1972)
Bonnie and Clyde(1967)
Gun Crazy(1949)
....we only have so many "types" of crime film: cop buddy movie, heist film, robbers study, etc...and getaway driver film.
The trick here was to get specific about the characters and crazy about the music. There's a footchase that's as good as the car chases. Great cast, too. To have Oscar winners Spacey and Foxx, AND Jon Hamm, AND Jon Bernthal AND those two young kid lovers...its what makes this special.
And its not like "Drive" at all in play-out or outcome.
