Why is the color so ugly?
Is it even color? It's some kind of badly lit washed out imitation of color. Who thinks this looks good?

shareHo hum. It's to set a mood and tone for the film and as the story unfolds and it makes an impression. The director chose this look to represent his film of a simpler time.
Because when you make a movie that you realize sucks wind you try to mute the colors or make it black and white in hopes that the brainless critics will notice and just assume it is some artsy fartsy film that no one is supposed to enjoy but that they as critics are supposed to rave about.
