Do people even remember the original?

I know it was a huge hit back in 2002 but no one really quotes it anymore and, if someone were to ask who was in the movie, I'm sure most people would be rushing to their phones to answer that question.

It just doesn't seem like it has any staying power, so what's really the point of making a sequel 14 years later?

Is that your rating system? No one (in your limited circle) quotes a movie?

It's one of our family's favorite and we quote it often and appropriately. It may help if one grew up in a proudly ethnic-American family, so we relate to the pride in one's heritage.

Looking forward to MBFGW2!

One of my favorite movies. So yes, people remember a movie from 2002.

Love is nature's satanic trick to make us reproduce.

It's one of my all time favorites. So I'm guessing I remember it pretty well.

Yes, I do remember it. I am watching it this very moment. One of my all time favorites. No staying power, REALLY??? That's funny because people obviously remember and like it according to the posts here, D'OH!! Your opinion, not every one else's..

I was in middle school when the first one came out. I remember a teacher saying that the movie's humor was totally on our level. I don't think I have ever seen it, or if I had it was just in passing because it was on TV.

It's hysterical! If you come from a European family like I do, it's absolutely funny! I can't wait for #2!!

It's finally out!! I want to buy it so I can watch it! I like buying movies because then I can sit at home, stretch out with pillows and blankets, eating whatever I want and not paying a fortune for it, and not have to worry that someone really tall is sitting in front of me. Or the person behind me, coughing or sneezing on me..Ewwwwww. Besides, by buying a movie, I have just about paid what I would have to go to a theater..Minus, the drink and popcorn..

In my circle, we constantly quote My Big Fat Greek Wedding!

The bundt, biopsy, oh that's okay-- I make lamb, why you want to leave me, dry like toast, moose kaka,...

reply

Windex. Lamb is not real meat so it is perfect for vegetarians. Bundt cake. (I refuse to pronounce bundt any other way.) Mouse KAKA. Plenty of Ouzo. And of course, the brilliant Andrea Martin stealing every single scene! I don't expect this movie to be very good. But I'll go see it. And watch our DVD of the original so we can laugh and drink up a lot of funny memories. Sorry, ....... I don't have a smart phone so I couldn't look up any specific quotes for you.

I remrmber the origionsl. I know people who are greek who know it word for word. I do know she stopoed workjng in her koms restaurant in the first one and worked for her aunt, so why does the plot say shes still working there? That would be cruel since part of the whole point of tge first movie is she found herself and had a job she liked. I think towards tge end she stayed stayed home to raise her daughter. Nothing wrong with waitressing though.
