The lighting on this show is so amazing.

They don't get nearly enough awards for what they do. The show is so gorgeously dark, and shot that way, it's not cheap color grading. And the shadows and everything. It's sick amazing. The precinct especially is always lit with layers of light and shadow. Can't imagine how long it takes to set all those shots up.

the atmosphere is so well done. it's like Gotham City is another main character.

I just started watching this and you are spot on, the lighting is pure art. It is an important detail that is sorely missed in most television shows. They obviously hired someone passionate about their work to get such consistent details.
