Still the best Star Wars film of the Disney era
After watching The Last Jedi, this film still holds up as being the best Disney era Star Wars film.

sharePossibly the best of any era.
sharePossibly true
I loved Rogue One...thefinal battle was amazing, scary, sad and thrilling!
RO might be my favorite of them all
It's a good film. But the best of any era? No.
For one, a Star Wars film with no Jedi can't be the best. It just can't.
Plus, while I do enjoy it, I'd much rather rewatch Revenge of the Sith.
You're really limiting what kind of story can be told if a Jedi is a requirement!
shareI'm not saying there can't be other stories, but it will be hard to rival a Jedi story because the Jedi Order is by far the coolest part of Star Wars lore.
shareFair enough. I'd like to see more about Gray Jedi myself!
shareI admit I'm not familiar enough with the Star Wars lore outside the movies to recognize the term, but I just looked up Gray Jedi and that does sound interesting!
Hell, if I was a Jedi myself, there's a good chance I'd end up a gray Jedi I'd say. I definitely think we need some movies with such characters.
by a significant margin...
shareI've forgotten all about it.
shareJust finished watching. By far and away the most engrossing and compelling Star Wars.
While true in 4 a planet is destroyed but we never see the people etc, in this u are with the commandos on that beach, and ending truly epitomised “the many lost their lives bringing this across the lines” quote by leia.
10/10
Or the prequels. This is the 4th best SW movie.
shareDefinitely better than the prequels!
I don't have a firm opinion on the Disney-era films, I haven't seen them often enough. You can't really judge a Star Wars film until you've seen it at least ten times. Still, this may be the best made overall, and I'm beginning to think that Gareth Edwards may be a major talent.
You could make an argument for it being better than Phantom Menace or Attack of the Clones, but Revenge of the Sith is a better film than Rogue One.
shareI can't agree with that. "ROTS" has its good points, all right, but it's still a very flawed film overall.
"R1" doesn't have anything as bad as a pregnant Padme trying to whine Darth Vader back to the light side in it, it's a good solid film all the way through.
I guess you could say that Rogue One is a more consistent film than ROTS, but Sith's highs are much higher than anything Rogue One has to offer.
Besides, while I do think that ROTS is a BETTER film than R1, I'll also say that sometimes a film does not even need to be better than another film to be more entertaining. So even if you hold the position that Rogue One is somehow the better movie, I don't see how you can think it's an overall more entertaining movie.
"I guess you could say that Rogue One is a more consistent film than ROTS, but Sith's highs are much higher than anything Rogue One has to offer. "
Now that I would agree with, Palpatine's scenes in ROTS were one of the absolute highlights of the whole shebang. I LOVE him! However, I can't genuinely love the film as a whole, not with Anakin turning out to be so pathetically stupid in the last half. That's not something I can forgive, making Darth Vader a dumbass.
I don't think it's possible to say whether "R1" or "ROTS" is an objectively better film, I'm just going to say that I like "R1" more. I don't insist that you agree.
Just saw TLJ today
Loved it...very pleased!
But yes, Rogue One was special
A very dark and adult story
It really was a 'war film'
Just watched it for the first time. I enjoyed it. I think Rogue One was a throwback film even more than Force Awakens was. Every single prop, set, sound effect and music cue and action piece, character type and dialog style was lifted from the original trilogy. But even still, despite a non existent story, it managed to produce an emotionally moving finale.
