Why didn't they just have Nick die in the Dam explosion then?

So they said Frank Dillane wanted out of the show last season, so why didn't they just let him die as a self sacrifice in the season 3 finale? Seems like that would have been more powerful and would have felt bigger than randomly dying in episode 3 of S4 by a little girl we barely know.

Marketing for season 4, I guess. Plus it is also a shocking death that raises the stakes.

Oh he had a contract that went up to season 4?

I agree, absolutely pointless death. Should have gone out scarificing himself to save others, like at the dam. Frank said he wanted out because he didn't have any new ideas for his character. It's such wasted potential, because I was really looking forward to see a friendship between Nick and Morgan.

I agree - the two most interesting on the show.
