Jeremiah (spoilers)

He was shot in cold blood. There's no way Madison and Nick could present it as suicide (wrong bullet hole angle). And yet, nobody in the colony seemed to get upset about it, not even his sons. There were no questions asked. How is this possible? I expected a backlash of some sort, which never happened.

reply

I got the impression that they ALL knew what was to befall him, even his sons. Peace was brokered on Jeremiah's head. The sons methodically put him in the truck and took him to be decapitated.

reply

Isn't it strange that Walker was ready to start a war with colonists over the murder of his father that happened many years ago, but Jeremiah's sons behave like a fresh murder of their father is no big deal?

reply

In his final little monologue Jeremiah confirmed what his sons almost certainly have known for years. He doesn't care about them or the rest of his people, not really. The only one he loves is himself. The fact that he stashed supplies in his own house to make sure he survived even if no one else did only reinforces that. It's hard to detach yourself from family, even when you realize they care nothing for you. We're not machines. We can't just disconnect bonds and take our feelings offline at will. Jake and Troy didn't participate, but from the calm way they showed up afterward and simply removed their father's body without asking questions it's clear they were in on the plan. At some level they're probably relieved to be rid of their old man even if they couldn't bring themselves to personally kill him.

reply

Maybe Troy as a power hungry psychopath would participate, but I doubt Jake would approve of this plan. Oh, and Madison quickly forgot that Walker was the one who killed Travis, and Jeremiah is the one who took her and her kids in. Many things don't add up in this chain of events.

reply

I doubt she's forgotten. Maybe she's taking a pragmatic approach, they can't really afford a war with his people, or maybe she intends to get her revenge at a later date. Who knows? And I seriously doubt Jake likes the plan. What I'm saying is, he recognized the necessity of it - and deep down has always known his father only truly cares about himself. They let Madison handle the tough part, since they couldn't do it themselves. But they clearly knew what was happening. Otherwise there would've been outrage and angry questions. They sure as hell wouldn't have let Madison go free so she could cut off Jeremiah's head and present it to Walker.

reply

What Madison is doing goes totally against human nature. It's beyond pragmatic, if you ask me. What kind of person is making a deal with the guy who killed her beloved husband and brings him the head of a guy who gave refuge to her and her kids? This is nothing but treason, even if she plans to revenge Travis later.

As for Jeremiah's sons... sure, Jeremiah will never win a father of the year award, but he's the only father they got. And now they don't have a father anymore and they obviously don't care.

reply

You heard what Jeremiah said about his sons. He didn't give a shit about them, the rest of his people, or anyone else but himself. Living with him all those years I'm sure they both know that whether or not he ever expressed himself quite as bluntly as he did with Madison. You don't just kill someone because they don't love you. But in this survival situation, when the lives of everyone in the camp depend on sacrificing Jeremiah, they are able to rationalize selling him out. After all he'd have no trouble doing the same - even to his children.

It was Walker's people who took the shot at the helicopter and actually killed Travis. Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what Madison does since it looks like they're moving in. She's already made a deal with the devil where Troy is concerned. Will she take revenge openly, quietly, or forego her payback for the sake of peace?

reply

Yes, relief is what they surely must have felt to be rid of the old man. Maybe Troy will change for the better because of this. If your father thinks you're a screw-up then maybe you act that way. With the father dead, Troy can now live up to his intended potential.

reply

If they wanted to get rid of the old man, they could've done it ages ago. I'm sure Madison wasn't the only person around willing to kill him for them. So... why didn't they?

The only logical answer why they did it now is because Walker asked them to do it. When an enemy asks you to kill your own father and you comply, that makes you a traitor by definition. All the other explanations of how he was a bad father, didn't care for them, blah blah blah are just an excuse Troy and Jake will tell each other to make themselves feel better about the treason they committed.

reply

Walker and Madison made them an offer they couldn't refuse.

reply

I agree with everything Apis, its hilarious that these retarded liberals dream this garbage up to make it anti white people and it ends up with Jeremiah as the only morale character in the entire show.
