Anyone notice that Devs and Rooneys character don't kiss on the lips in the film? They kiss on the forehead/neck in one or two scenes, but the kisses that precede even the sex scene are not visible on camera and occur with the actor's backs to the camera. It was as if they were avoiding showing an on screen kiss.
Kind of reminded me of when Jet Li's kiss with Aaliyah was cut out of Romeo Must die.

I did notice that yeah. Very unusual for a film with romance (thought tbh the romance angle was completely unnecessary).

It was because filming a kiss in India is taboo and they wanted this film accepted there.
Somebody help me out here--a few years back a white actor and Indian actress were filmed at an event promoting a film, and the actor went to kiss the actress. At the last second she turned her head so he got her cheek instead of her mouth, and the actor caught hell for even having tried to kiss her on camera. Anyone remember who this was and when?
It is actually because in Indian culture, kissing on the lips is censored.
Think about it. If you ever watched the human caterpillar (watch at your own risk) or have taken any physiology class, the mouth is part of your gastrointestinal system. Your mouth is especially filled with bacteria all the way down to your rectum. So basically, if someone kisses someone on the lips, it is as good as kissing them on the rectum.
