Dutchie here, so I got to see the first showing and I have to say that I'm pretty impressed. They tried to bring back the atmosphere of the first movie with intrigues, backstabbing and more lore. They also tied some loose ends together.
The first one is still the best, but this one is way better than the previous films.

I'm not sure she was really dead before the cocooning, but definitely close.
Well, you don't see a deathblow or anything, but it's made very clear that he is very dead.
Marius harvested Michaels blood to gain temporary powers. When Selene accidentally gets Marius's blood in her mouth she sees the images of Michael being drained. Marius confirms that the little vial of blood he's holding is 'the last of Michael'

Thomas dies pretty early on in a 2 v 1 sword duel against Semira and Varga.
Semira gets to drink Selene's blood, thus becoming immune to sunlight. When fighting David she gets distracted by the rising sun and gets brutally stabbed through the neck/mouth and dies
So how many stupid deaths are in this movie in total? We already have Semira and Michael (though Michael can't die from blood loss but whatever). Do Marius, Thomas and Selene also die in a stupid fashion?

Marius's death was a Mortal Kombat style fatality, Thomas was simply overpowered and Selene got shot a handful of times at point blank

Hmm I think it's closed enough for it to end at Blood Wars, but open enough for another sequel. The set up at the very last minute kind of makes you want another movie. It will definitely focus on Eve, and maybe they'll bring the humans back?

Edit: I may be thinking that Eve will be the one to stop the Vampire/Lycan war with either a truce (share her blood?) or total annihilation of one or both of the species.

It's some sort of spiritual ritual the Vampires of the most northern coven do. They all have the whitened hair and teleportation powers, at least one of them also has some sort of mirror image power

The pacing was pretty good, only one scene seemed a bit rushed to me. They could have added another 5 minutes of lore, but I can't complain
