should I skip it when I like only movies 1 and 2?

Should I skip this movie?
I loved parts 1 and 2, the rest of the series not so much. I even didn't buy movies 3 and 4 as DVDs.
So will I be very angry with myself if I go?
I have a choice - this or Allied but only 1 movie this week as I'm rather busy.
Which one?

going by the comments/reviews on this board i'd say you will most definitely be angry with yourself for going but only you can find that out. personally i loved AWAKENING as an action film. i own in on BR and still enjoy watching it. as a well written horror/action/drama...it was...well you know. lol. clearly they didn't really have a finished script/story before filming and were writing it as they went along.

i can understand why some people don't like that film though. Kate/Selene is my main draw to the film, so she automatically makes each movie great (to me at least).

reply

Well, for me it was the great love story in 1 and 2. Action scenes, right, but there are some movies with great action scenes that don't have Selene and Michael.

reply

I thought the first two were great as well, but the third (Rise of the Lycans) was actually really good, too. It's different, as it's a prequel, but it was IMO well made and entertaining. Give it a shot if you've never seen it.

reply

I did see 3 and 4. I went to cinemas to see both. It's just I didn't buy them as DVD/BD?video on demand. Nothing. It wasn't the same without them. I know, there was that actor who pretended but it wasn't the REAL Michael.

reply

I'm not saying that my English is great but you should improve your English cause there are some terms that you misused...so we can't fully interpret what you're trying to say..

no offense though

4 is the weakest of the series IMO, 5 is the second belonging to the category.

1 and 2 will always be the best

reply

Should I skip this movie?
Yeah, probably.

1 and 2 were good and they should have wrapped it up after 2. The other two were nonsense.

Beckinsale is still attractive at 43 but she no longer looks 29 or 30 like in the first one and her aging in this series is quite apparent.

Really, Kate. If you're reading this, it's time to retire this tired schtick. Go back to the stage. Do some drama. You were better there.

reply

Do you know many people who turn ugly at 43? It's not a very advanced age really...

Did I say she turned ugly at 43?

Please re-read it again. Or take some reading comprehensions classes.

reply

No, but you phrased it like this:

Beckinsale is still attractive at 43

And I inferred that by using the world still you normally think that 43 year olds aren't attractive

reply

Uh, no. Go back and read it again.

It is what I said.

reply

Whatever you say cowboy

Thanks, prissy

reply

You've completely lost it if you can't understand that. Mentioning that she's still attractive at 43 implies that you thought she would not be attractive at that age no matter how you interpret it.

reply

Oh give me a break and stop acting like a fanboy...

reply

Boddy_Dupea is correct... this is perhaps the most pointless banter I've seen on here. Before you respond, think and shut up.

reply

I would not skip it if you like the Underworld series in general. Sure it's not as good as some of the others but it's not terrible either, worth a 6 imo. It does lack some of the character's I liked suck as Victor, Lucien and Tannis but Kate is still good as are some of the newer addittions, worth 91 mins of your time esp if you like the series in general.

reply

I like the first half of the series and don't care if 3 and 4 exist.
So I didn't ask "should I skip in general" but "in specific circumstances". there's a tiny difference.

reply

Then stop. Don't even bother and move on. If you're expecting a repeat of 1 and/or 2, forget it. Selene and Michael appear to be over. And not only that, Selene is depressed as hell for half of the movie over losing Michael. If you prefer a happy ending for your movie heroes, you should stop at number 2.

reply

I don't get why some people have such a hard time giving up on something that they don't enjoy, especially when they're paying for it. You're not obligated to continue or anything, but if you're going to lose sleep over it, go ahead. I don't think there's a series I've given up on where I regretted it, and it's not like you can't immediately catch up on it if you want to get back onboard.

Watch part 3 again, didnt like it at first, now i think its good!

reply

This movie was poorly produced, poorly directed and has a hole in the plot line the size of the universe. It ruins the entire franchise and should be avoided by any real Underworld fan.

reply

Go and see it, i loved Underworld 1 and 2, and also liked 3 the prequel, Underworld 4 was not that great, but Underworld 5 is good again, it felt like i was watching Underworld 1 again only without the love interest between Michael and Selene, honestly i did not miss it.

He (Scott Speedman) did not want to play anymore in the fourth Underworld movie, so that's why he did not play in Underworld 4 and now 5.

reply

Might want to read up on the behind the scenes stuff a little more. Speedman wanted to be in Awakening. Len Wiseman didn't want him in there.

reply

This film has more similarities to the first film than to the fourth. I enjoyed it, but it is quite possibly not as good as the first one. Still, I'd give it a try if I were you.
