Her blood is the key, she has lost everything, the war rages on, tons of CGI, desolate landscapes, modern laboratories, humans caught in the middle...

Yeah its getting kind of old really.
I haven't really cared much since the second movie.
You get the sense that not many things are an actual threat to Selene and that she is almost a Mary-Sue character that easily overcomes obstacles. That formula gets stale quick.
Blade is flashy and cocky but he only excels at killing average vampires who are not soldiers/fighters. In all three Blade movies, he is outmatched by the main villains. Blade 1 and Blade 2 both depicted Blade being captured and seemingly left for dead. He had outside help in order to recover.
Selene on the other hand has barely gotten a scratch here and there. Its not thrilling anymore when you don't believe that any of the bad guys are an actual threat to her.
Selene is very much an invincible character. The trials in her movies aren't so much if she can survive, but if she can pull of her plans and usurp the agenda. If she can keep others alive against all odds. But it's never a position that she might be harmed.

When I heard there was a new entry coming up, I checked it out in hopes that it would not be a Selene story or that it would not be another movie where she easily kills everything in sight.
I was disappointed so i wanted to see if others felt the same way.

Resident evil and that sword fight scene between Samira and David reminded me of that fight scene between Yu Shu Lin and Jen Lu from Couching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
