Oscar nominations?

I can see Austin Butler and Tom Hanks with Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor nominations.

Me too and I REALLY hope that Austin wins! He deserves it!!

Austin Butler really deserves it. He was outstanding. He really captured Elvis.

Agree. Saw the film for the 7th time last night. It's amazing how I went from thinking the film was ok to just being addicted to it. 80% of the reason is Butler's performance. Though I don't put a lot of faith in the Oscars anymore due to them being very political (just just woke reasons but status/celebrity marketing reasons), It is still an honor I would like him to pick up regardless.

I would also like to see costumes up there as well. The fact they recreated so many of Elvis's amazing jumpsuits is insane. Learning about the leather come back special outfit was fun too as they had to have different versions based on the shots needed.

Hanks was the one actor who got criticized in this otherwise well-received film. He won’t get an Oscar nom here

I don't know. I think the only thing people hated were the accent and after a while, you get used to it. Otherwise, I think he played a very nuanced character. Trying to be a comic book villain on the outset but giving some really understandable moments (from his perspective) that makes you not completely hate him. I never knew much about Parker outside of his controlling nature and the $2 million dollar 'debt' he said Presley owed. As I read more into him I see how well Hanks portrayed him. So I think he, at least, gets a nom for supporting. whether or not he actually wins is another matter. I would not be upset if he lost like I would be upset if Butler lost.

I think it will likely get nominated for picture, actor, makeup and hair styling, sound, costumes, production design and editing.

Butler for best actor absolutely. Maybe Hanks for supporting as well. The production design was great, too. They really brought those different time periods to life.
