Did anyone actually watch this?

If so, why?

What was the appeal?

reply

I used to watch it back in the day, when it was new and fresh on the scene of tv programming. I would watch it with my army buddies and I think the appeal was the same for all of us, firstly let’s not BS, the show prioritized being entertaining first and foremost under the guise of being this holier than thou, we’re saving the world from child pedo monsters…. In reality, they bated a great many men who most likely would not have ventured down the path they chose had someone not pretended to be their wildest fantasy and set a honey trap for them to walk right into, think Christian from Midsommar, having said that, they do manage to get a couple of sick fucks, the kinds of guys who share dick picks to minors as the start of a conversation piece, so kudos to them for that.

When I was younger I was drawn to the show primarily for the entertainment value of seeing these guys get hemmed up and I was also caught up in the mob justice mentality. And I think those two aspects are what appealed to a great many people who watched the show.
I can’t watch it anymore because I’m mature enough, at this point in my life to realize that the producers of the show are willing to do anything for ratings, to include setting up someone and ruining their life who is most likely not a bad person and no where near deserving of the ramifications of what follows having been sucked into the honey trap laid out before them.

I must say though, when they actually caught legit creeps, true sickos that were a danger to society, watching them squirm under the lights and questioning and facetious jabs of Chris Hanson was most definitely entertaining, HIGHLY entertaining.

Thanks for the response.

No problem, it was a great question.

They were all guilty. If your wildest fantasy is sex with a 13 year old, you are a pedophile.

That is an interesting question though. Do "fantasies" really define who a person is? I think most psychologists would disagree that 13 makes you a pedo.

However, I think we can all agree that it's highly questionable behavior to have any desires for someone that young. But ages 13-15 is extremely borderline. That's not exactly a child and not exactly an adult either.

I would think most men have had "fantasies" about sleeping with the "curvy teen girl" that lives down the street. Not sure that makes them "pedo" though??

Well said and I appreciate you keeping it objective in your response.

Thanks, dancinginthedark.

That being said, I could easily name 6 or 7 other sexual oddities/fantasies that I find way more repulsive than just some guy that has a teen girl fantasy.

Why do you ask?

I think it was one of the highest rated shows on TV for a while. So yeah, people did watch it.

I watched it just for the laughs mostly. Some of the dumbfounded looks on the "predators" faces when host, Chris Hansen, comes out were quite funny.

However, I still didn't like the show's premise that much, sexuality is almost impossible to govern. People are going to do weird sexual stuff, always have, always will and to use this human element as a way to line your pockets with money seems to be unethical in my opinion.

That being said, there were still a few perps they caught on this show that were of very questionable character. It was good they got arrested, they seemed like shady people.

Still, the show is supposed to be in the name of "protecting kids" but statistics have shown time and time again that internet hook-ups rarely happen. Kids are usually abused by someone they know offline not by a total stranger they met online.

Apparently, the show now has a spin-off program called Hansen vs Predator. In fact, Hansen was on Fox News the other night to go over his investigations of illegal aliens that he caught during his show. So, not only did they get busted for trying to have sex with a teen but they get deported too. lol!

They watched it then and continue to watch videos of it today.

reply

because it's kinda fascinating, you see men doing the worst thing imaginable, but not only getting caught, it happens right in front of you. one second the dude thinks he's getting some, then the next chris hansen appears and makes them explain why..

it has a humour to it too.

Remember the,

“I don’t want this cookie anymore, I just want to get to the beach” guy
and the
“Oh Cawd” guy
And the creepy
“Yeaaaaaaaa” guy

reply

how about the boy decoy who looked older that the predator!?

"just me, my mommy and my daddy"

reply

lmao that dude looked like one of the predators, he was jacked as fuck and had a receding hairline 😂

I watched this show a lot as a kiddo, and a lot during my adult hood especially during the plandemic for nostalgia. It is one of the best shows. You get to see pedos get their lives ruined in real time. It is hilarious cause they are so happy when they walk in thinking they will be getting some jail bait then things go 180 the second Chris Hanson comes out and you can see there face go to a place of extreme dread and horror. Fucking hilarious stuff
