Mel should be in the next Mad Max

If MIller decides to make another one. Hardy could still play Max, but i think it would be cool for Mel to play a role of an old bearded buff loner. His character could be called.... the Hermit. He can be a legend people talk about but are not sure if he realy exists or not. He could represent what Max could become later in his life, kinda like what the Skull Knight is to Gutts in Berserk. It would not be the first time for Miller to have an actor reappear as a different character in this franchise.

Miller should listen to the fan theory that Hardy is the feral kid all grown up, and have Mel return as the real Max for the next film.

reply

That'd be so sweeet

reply

I would love just to see him dressed up like Max...

reply

Yeah, especially as buff as he was in this film.

That would be awesome!!!

I wouldn't mind that plot, as Hardy's Max had a different backstory than the Gibson Max (detah of family is much different than original).

Plus, just felt like a different personality, considering it's supposed to be a sequel and not a reboot.

Except that Tom Hardy's character in Fury Road was named "Max Rockatansky", so are you implying he is Max Rockatansky Jr. ??

reply

I don't think that'd be a good idea. For those who want Mel back as Max (like myself), we'd spend the whole time lamenting that he's in the film but not in the right role. Either keep Mel out of these new films or do as has been suggested, bring him back as Max and make Tom Hardy the grown up Feral Kid.

reply

Well, i think that's the beauty of Miller not giving a *beep* about continuity. Mel's character could be so... mad, for a lack of a better word, that he would not even remember if he was once called Max. So the Feral Kid theory can still stay a theory and one of the ways to explain it.

reply

Tom could be Max's son, with the same name...easy fix.

Tom Hardy's terrible Mad Max accent sounds a lot like the feral kid narrator's voice from Mad Max 2, maybe that's why people are suggesting this.
I was personally saddened by Tom Hardy as Max ( weep weep ) tho I liked a lot of the new movie.
I had one question throughout tho:
"Where is Max?"

I like that idea. The kid was so impressed and likened Max that he wanted his name. If you recall the Flash backs in Fury Road with the little girl did not resemble anyone from Mel as Max. Someone send a tweet to George Miller to think about

reply

totally, wish he was in the last one. Hardy did fine, but Mel is sooo damn good.

reply

Mel was and always will be Max. He should've done Fury Road, and it would have been amazing if it had got off the ground in 2003 - 2004 when he was lined up for it, and still very popular in Hollywood.

Tom Hardy was completely devoid of any charisma and screen presence. He looked lost - almost like a supporting character to a real action hero.

But no, I don't want to see Mel back either in the role or in another Mad Max movie.

It's done now. He should keep moving forward. He doesn't need the franchise anymore. His version of the character is in the history books, and still popular after 31 years since he last played him.

reply

pretty sure they turned mad max into a girl now.

Mel Gibson is the ONLY Mad Max

reply

^^^^^^^^, but that makes me sad thinking about it actually 

I was against Mel as Max in Fury Road, but after watching this I think he could have pulled it off just fine.

HAVING SAID THAT, he's got baggage and his star doesn't shine as brightly as Hardy's does these days. Plus Tom was every bit as good at the role. They made the right casting choice.

reply

Tom hardy was tied up half the movie and was completely useless and NOT max at all. You can't have been a fan since a kid like many if you weren't totally disappointed by max being a pussy imo

reply

No true Scotsman. Nice.

I'm 36 years old. I grew up inundated with all of it. Don't even *beep* try to tell me what I'm a fan of and what I'm not a fan of.

reply

Ah well, don't take it to heart Jimmy, I'm a year younger than you.
Just sad Max is only the hero I see in my dreams

All that remains are memories. I remember a time of chaos, ruined dreams, this wasted land. But most of all, I remember the road warrior, the man we called Max

How could you have "Grown Up" with it all when you weren't even born in 1979 when Mad Max came out ... I was 10 when it came out and remember quite clearly my brother and I going to see it at the Drive-In with my parents.
