Husbands had to kill their own wives? Never heard of this.

If a wife was determined to be a spy, the husband had to kill her himself or HE would be accused of treason as well?

This sounds ridiculous.

Has anyone heard of this before?

PLEASE REPLY BEFORE 2/20. :)

OK, I don't know about war time laws in 40s UK, but this seemed pretty stupid. I would say it was totally made up for "dramatic" purpose, but I can't tell for sure.

That was my first thought too. It's stupid, especially in spying business, use someone who emotionally involved.

Yup and they wouldn't tell him about the test either. They'd test both of them unwittingly.

Yeah, this movie was a silly spy soap opera. Sometimes the dramatic scenes would be so overdone that it became laughably hard to accept anything in it.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. Review of the film right here- https://youtu.be/2qBz_ImTbE0

In one of the bonus features on the blu-ray, the writer claims he got the idea for the story from an old guy who told him that exactly this situation had occurred to him, and he had gone home and killed his wife just as he was ordered.
