The story skips around. The new characters are not interesting. Why have characters named Valentine and Balentine? Really? The familiar characters are reduced to two dimensional cliches: Caroline is all pouty and jealous and mumbling into Horace. Ross and Demelza are always in carriages going to and from London. George’s breakdown is weird. Geoffrey Charles has become the new Dwight, another lovesick puppy going to that cave looking for horcruxes, whoops wrong story...

In sum, the story all very scattered and superficial. Sad to see a once great show crumble apart like this.

Its not based on the books, the showrunner wrote it herself, I stopped watching after the second episode of the last season, its Game of Thrones S8 bad.

Never cared for Gabriella as Caroline. That character in the books is a stronger less dellcate and snobbish person.

The wife and I both noticed a profound difference in the final season. Much more convoluted, more politics, too many new characters. It seems like they decided to compete with other dramas like Outlander.

The only part I enjoyed was when George finally showed a bit of good, even it was only to protect the crown more than save Ross.

George seems to be a jerkass most of the time, but he's not completely rotten after all.
