This show would be 20x better if....
...if they fired the entire supporting cast. They are all just awful and almost embarrassing to watch. When put next to the four leads, they actually bring down the show.

shareI agree 100%
shareI'm not sure it would help improve the show 20x, but some housecleaning would definitely help.
shareIt's true the script writing left something to be desired, but I chalked a lot of that down to first season issues where the writers (and actors) weren't fully sure of where to take the shows or the characters. However, the four leads were able to take what they were given and make something out of it that was watchable.
The same couldn't be said with the supporting cast, all of whom couldn't formulate a single likable attribute or connection between character and show viewer. Instead they came off as obnoxious and reeked of that 'I'm clearly acting' style of acting. The show would be so much better off with them all gone from the show.
I definitely agree with you about the "I'm so clearly acting" style...it's sadly so prevalent today. I do however think that some blame has to go to the script and writers. I have found that (at times) the writing has been beneath the caliber of the primary cast.
shareWell, from the moment the sisters/daughters spoke for the first time I pretty much hated them, as much you can hate fictional character. Poor poor choice. Not sure about the rest, but those two really hurt my brain. Insensitive, brattish, just abnoxious, and not in a cute and funny way.
shareI agree with you totally. The show is wonderful as it is, but I think it would be even better if it focused solely on Grace and Frankie, with Sol and Robert being the supporting characters. I don't really understand why there has been much focus on the children in the show. Anytime there were scenes with the children I found myself wanting to see Grace and Frankie back on the screen again. I wouldn't mind a guest appearance here and there of the children, but I don't find it necessary for them to appear in almost every episode.
shareI only really like Brianna from the supporting cast.
Do you have any talents?
Well, I'm an Alcoholic.
I have watched and rewatched Season 1 many times, and at first I might have agreed with you. But the actors and their portrayal of the characters has really grown on me. I'm really enjoying Mallory and Coyote and their respective neuroses, and Bud as the most level-headed of the four. Brianna seems to have gotten the most screen time, and I'm really enjoying her brand of "damaged" (her word). Her scene at the theater with the boys is probably my favorite of the entire season (hence my signature line).
Well. Well, well. Tall Pants McGrammar Glasses put us in our place, didn't he?
Yes! Brianna is a fun character but the others can leave.
shareI don't have nearly the problems with the supporting cast so many others here do. But yes, June Raphael has created a full, robust character - not 100% likeable, but intriguing and worth watching.

Nothing to see here, move along.

I like Brianna and the drug addict son. The other two are kinda boring, but I like their presence in the show during the family scenes and that. I'm happy with them being background characters.
