Irritating things about 'Grace and Frankie"

1. The never-ending references to Grace's 'beauty', out of her mouth and the other characters, eg, Robert and Guy. The absolute worst was when she said to her video image - 'I'm pretty when I cry!' This is reinforced by very unrealistic makeup and wardrobe, eg, when she first wakes up and in the middle of the night. Jane Fonda's claim to fame is how she has retained a much younger looking appearance than her real age would suggest, through exercise and cosmetic surgery. She was never noted for her beauty compared to other actresses.

And yet, not one word about Brooklyn Decker's looks, a woman who has been a very successful fashion model.

I think the frequent references to Grace's beauty is entirely a device to highlight the differences between her and Frankie, whose is dowdy and has grey roots. Nothing more, nothing less.

They are characters...one glamourous, one more down to earth in the looks department. I think you are reading too much into it...it's about Grace, not about Jane.

I'm a Lieutenant Detective in, uh, Homicide. That's a fancy name for murder.

Are you aware that Fonda began her career as a fashion model, as well? She was on the cover of Vogue twice before going to Hollywood, and was also featured on and in many other fashion magazines when represented by Ford Models.

First let me just say that not all fashion models are pretty. They just have a look that a particular designer is searching for. I've seen models that many would view as not conventionally pretty.

That said, Brooklyn is beautiful but she is also fairly matronly or dressed down in this series.

Grace in the other hand is glamorous. She's not young like Brooklyn but she is stunning. Especially for a woman nearing 80. You have to admit she looks amazing.

Can't argue with that, and I will also say she is a style icon for older women, as long as they are relatively slim.
