I never feel sorry for women like Francis.

Naive and pathetic, marrying the bad boys expecting them to turn straight then feeling sorry for themselves when they don't and turn out to be Mr White Knight, but instead huge selfish a-holes. These types of women are pathetic and why do the guys marry these women? Is it so they can pretend they have a conscience? I don't even know. But yeah, her own fault, I don't feel any sympathy for you women and I hate how it's directed that way.

Did you not consider that a large degree of deception was probably employed on top of the 'promises of going straight' that were shown that you've wilfully ignored? Is it not more likely that reggie, a reckless gangster prone to impulsive outbursts of violence, lied and manipulated francis into a relationship she didn't agree to? Abusing her trust and their commitment to each other by failing to honour who he was and what he promised, effectively capitalising on her emotions by taking advantage of the fact she was already in love and attached to him? Or maybe reggies intent wasn't even malicious, maybe he's just a careless idiot, but even then it's still not 'her own fault' and she would still be a victim of this situation. So she trusted someone who didn't deserve her trust, i hardly think that warrants your bizarrely hostile and hysterical reaction that somehow turned into a diatribe against an entire gender of people. The character and their relationship was poorly constructed within the film however that still doesn't conceal the fact that you have an unfounded, bigoted hatred for this character and you've used it as an excuse to spew your vile and unwelcome beliefs about women including that you want it to be known how pathetic you think they are. Sorry mate but i really don't like what you've written there.

To me she comes off as a dumb girl with precious little inside her head (like most teenagers regardless of gender) and nothing else. If you thought they were trying to paint her as a victim that's just your interpretation. Her mother was always the voice of reason and there were several scenes showing how her advice was falling on deaf ears, so no one can say she wasn't warned.

people always thik theyre going to be the ones to change someone and she was young-yes she shold have realised with ron he was never going to go straight but she loved him

Oh, come on---not all teenagers are idiots with no sense inside their heads (you could say that about a few adults, too.) My guess was that Frances was probably sheltered to some extent, and like most young people wanted to get out from under her mother's thumb and be an adult. Despite her mother's warnings, she had to learn the hard way about relationships and falling for the wrong guy, like most young women eventually do. At least she had the sense to finally get away form him, and yeah, it was sad of her to end her own life, but who knows what other emotional problems she may have had that led to her doing that.

What a weird post. No-one asked for your sympathy anyway did they? Certainly not Frances (with an 'e').

To have empathy is normal, compassion is up to you. You sound weird.
