Do Asians really return years old merchandise to random stores?

Jessica is just awful. Every episode I hate her more and more. The show even portrays this trait as something positive, even super-heroish. And the worst thing is, she is teaching that behavior (which is really stealing) to her kids.

Chinese are really like that. They are always scheming and trying to be abrasive ... so taking that chance with this character is funny and interesting. I don't like her character either, but then she grows on me a bit as she slowly seems to learn.

You cannot tell from just what show where they are really heading, but Chinese people are weird, but so are all people.

They are making fun of those foibles in the show, I think. They are so cheap. My girlfriend is Chinese and she literally remembers the price of almost everything she buys and it's retail price too ... it's hilarious. She is very superstitious, which I hate. It is gun to watch it with her and laugh about the foibles of Chinese and Americans.

My FG/SO/wife is Asian and she sadly confirms all these stereotypes. Of course, not all Asians are like that. I am not a religious person, but I really think that the absence of something like Christianity or Judaism provides, and I am not sure what it is, it a big deficit in Asian culture. They have Buddhism, which has a lot of good themes and ideas, but basically it teaches people to accept things, and that coupled with the belief in reincarnation says don't live for this life.

I was married into a Chinese family for 15 years and the "cheap" stereotype is real. My ex-husband wasn't as bad as my father-in-law, who took being "frugal" to an unhealthy degree. It was maddening. Every time we went out to eat and we paid, he'd grill me about the amount of tip I left the waitress. He felt a dollar was more than adequate. He'd ask repeatedly on the way home how much the meal cost. When he paid, he'd study the bill to make sure it was accurate before paying and my husband and I always had to slip more money onto the table for the tip.

If we took him to the grocery store he'd look at different items and loudly exclaim "that's 4 dollars?!" He would never spend money on dentistry or a new roof for the house, etc. Now that he's old and in a nursing home, my ex is finding out he has tons of money in the bank, which is good on one hand, but my ex is upset because he said his whole childhood they lived like they were dirt poor, when in reality his dad was just hoarding the money in the bank.

You are right, but your father-in-law sounds clueless.
They're nuts and incompatible with American society.
My girlfriend is Asian, and she really hates to spend money.
She finds these great deals on clothes and really does save a bundle.

We were in line at the return counter at Macy's week before last
and had to laugh ( we watch FOTB together ) because there was a
Chinese couple trying to return something to Macy's they got at
another store. I never really thought anyone would do that.

In general all people are usually OK, but there is a kind brutish
quality to the Chinese that they have developed to a tee.

On the other hand it is good to study bills you get. I never do that
and others just glancing have found errors.

And there is the fact that a lot of older people grew up in less proserous,
more insecure times ... which we may be returning to soon as a country,
and they learned how to survive, and gained pride and respect from that
skill.

I can see why wait-people do not like the wait on Chinese when they never
leave tips.

Funny how this show seemed funny when we first started watching it, but
over time it started to wear at how openly racist it was. Some of it is good
fun and fair play, but a lot of it is just ugly.
