Once won the oscar and Begin Again was nominated...anyone think Sing Street has a shot at a best song nomination?
I've been listening to the soundtrack since I saw the movie and really can't get enough of it. Assuming they're both eligible I think Drive it Like You Stole It and Go Now could have a shot.
Anyone agree?
I'd say it's pretty much a lock for a Song nomination. It could pull off multiple song nominations, but I've yet to see La La Land so I don't know how many songs from that will be competing. That's also not to mention Moana, which is probably already a lock as well. As a previous poster mentioned, Zootopia will also be competing but it might buckle under the stronger-than-usual competition. LLL is probably favored to win as it's been getting hardcore Picture buzz. That also means more voters will have seen LLL. (I still want Hardcore Henry to sneak a nomination here, but don't expect it.)
It certainly deserves nominations in Screenplay, Supporting Actor, and Picture, of which I'd guess the most likely in Screenplay - it's not at all uncommon for those writers to give out a nom to smaller pictures, especially in Original Screenplay. In fact, most years have at least one nominee with little-to-no other nominations (see: Ex Machina, Straight Outta Compton, Nightcrawler, Flight, Margin Call, Another Year, etc).
