Once won the oscar and Begin Again was nominated...anyone think Sing Street has a shot at a best song nomination?
I've been listening to the soundtrack since I saw the movie and really can't get enough of it. Assuming they're both eligible I think Drive it Like You Stole It and Go Now could have a shot.

Yes. It should get nominated. It deserves it. Go Now has a shot, but I want a song performed by the kids to win. Give them a chance to shine. Adam Levine's already had so many years of moments in the sun.
I'd say To Find You is the best song in the movie, but Drive It Like You Stole It is the most iconic, so it's likely going to be the one to be nominated.
If neither of those songs get nominated, I'll be very sad.

One major review already pegged "Drive it Like You Stole It" as an award winner, let alone nominee. I think it's a lock for a nomination. As a former longtime rock critic and songwriter, I think it's pretty damn great.

I completely agree. I'm no professional critic, no songwriter; I'm simply a teacher, but I think that will end up being one of the top five best films of 2016, and if it doesn't at least get a Best Song adaptation, a lot of people will be angry.
Drive It Like You Stole It has the best chance. To Find You is the best song on the soundtrack, though.

'Drive It Like You Stole It' and 'Brown Shoes' are my favorite songs. I really want one of the songs by "Sing Street" to be one of the songs that gets nominated. This was easily my favorite film for a long time. Already saw it twice and could go back again lol, waiting for the blu ray is going to seem like forever. It's just a great film with a great re-watchability factor going for it, plus as a guy who grew up with a passion for the entertainment industry, made home movies with my friends, and attended a catholic high school - it's just all around nostalgic.
shareI agree. I hope one of Sing Street's songs get nominated, and even more so, I hope that the original cast of kids get to be the ones to perform it live. It would be such an amazing moment for them if that happens.
If the film gets nominated for, say, Go Now, then it will be a good thing that at least the film got nominated, but it'd be so much better if Ferdia and the rest of the cast got to perform something like Drive It Like You Stole It for a live Oscar audience.

OH MY GOD. It had never ocurred to me that the kids might be able to perform it if they get the nomination. I will honestly cry and cheer like never before in my life if that were to happen. Lmao no homo and no kidding either! :P
shareI think "Drive It Like You Stole It" is gonna be a heavy favorite and will be a prominent player in the awards race at years end.
Having said that, Disney does have "Moana" coming in November and everyone is on a Lin-Manuel Miranda high because of "Hamilton". So it could go either way between now and then.
Unless some unheard of player is the tortoise to their hare.
La La Land seems to be getting a lot of attention too, and "Try Everything" from Zootopia could also sneak in. Hope the Weinsteins have enough confidence in this. And BAFTA should give it all the nominations they can, because that's about the only way it won't get buried beneath more "prestigious" movies in the States in the upcoming awards season.

shareI hope at least it gets the nomination for Best Original song and probably 'Drive it Like you Stole it' will be the chosen song(I still prefer 'Up'). It truly deserves to be nominated to best picture but that's not gonna happen.
