I went to this movie last night with my wife, she enjoyed it. However I thought that this was a dreadful movie full of cliches.
I found the main characters idiotic, unlikable and faceteous and the supporting cast was a waste of some very good actors who were unable to salvage anything from the bad scripting. I found myself glancing at my watch more than once, something I never do while I'm watching a movie
Save yourself from wasting 106 minutes of your life, rent the Commitments, it's broadly the same story but is actually worth watching

You should sue whoever told you this is like The Commitments. It is nothing like Sing Street but it seems several lazy journalists have linked them.

I thought it was great either way.

I agree it was a poor movie, but I wouldn't even go so far as to say "the supporting cast was a waste of some very good actors". It had the ambience (appropriately) of a school play for me.

You must be scary sophisticated. If you're a Woody Allen fan you should be ashamed of yourself. This film earned a Metacritic score of 93%. Not too shabby. I visited your homepage to see what films put you in orbit. I read your optimistic review of Love Actually. I think it's a simple, straightforward brilliant film....like Sing Street. Did you really view this film?

After reading great reviews of it, I was expecting more. What we got was a B movie kids' version of The Commitments.

Obviously, you have no heart. Seriously though, if you've ever had a dream or been in love, this movie will resonate with you.
