CG gore is the worst thing that has ever happened to the horror genre.
You talk as if how much a film makes determines how good it is.
Here's a list of films not a lot of audiences saw when they came out, but went on to become classics through re-releases and video sales.
1.) Wizard of Oz
2.) Citizen Kane
3.) It's a Wonderful Life
4.) Harold & Maude
5.) Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
6.) Blade Runner
7.) Once Upon a Time in America
8.) Dazed and Confused
9.) Shawshank Redemption
10.) Fight Club
11.) Office Space
Over half these films are on the IMDB top 250 or at least belong there.
Don't get me wrong not saying The Night Before should be, but hey…Box office does not determine how good film is. (Just look at every Transformers movie.)
