Imagine Statham in a film with a good budget and script

I truly think Statham would improve any mission impossible film or jack reacher or James Bond. But all his films struggle with script, just got bafflingly dumb things happen and we laugh and enjoy them as they are but they could be brilliant action films too.

tldr;

That's what Statham said when he got the first draft of the script

He's no James Bond. Very far from it.

reply

Correct. He's a Frank Martin ;)

reply

It's a dumb name though, he's got 2 first names like ricky bobby.

reply

With a good director they could make him a "rough cut" James Bond and I think he could do it well.

reply

No, firstly James Bond has hair, and everyone knows Statham is bald. Secondly he is too rugged for Bond, Lastly his voice is not a Bond voice.

Id need a pretty good imagination!

Lots of water and swimming in this. Played to his strengths? Great action scenes IMHO.

Honestly he is a terrible actor and would only bring those movies down, the transporter was easily the WORST action film in a long time, his only semi decent movie was Snatch and his part really could have been played by anyone, he plays the same character in every movie, flat faced same reactions, no range in his acting at all.

reply

looks like he want to create some franchise, maybe Mechanic can become a successful series for him. I need Crank 3.

THRILLER IS MY FOOD!

I completely agree. To the haters, watch redemption and tell me the dude can't act. Statham has been type cast for the most part and isn't offered very many decent scripts. When he is, he shines.

You should check out The Bank Job if you haven't already. Not a tremendous amount of action but the suspense and great story and interesting and well acted characters make up for it imo. One of my favourite Statham movies.
