So this is a movie you take your daughter to but not your sons?

I can't imagine a young boy liking this movie...Seems very girly

reply

My sons have been anxiously waiting to see this movie for months! They loved it...especially Maui's ability to shape shift into their favorite creatures. There's plenty of things for boys in the princess movies.

reply

What a great father you must be.. Yawn.

honestly, Moana (the character) wasn't very girly. Sure, she wore a skirt, but that was about as "girly" as she got.

reply

Actually, Moana was very girly.

She was a strong and bold leader of her people who did right by them regardless of her obstacles. She endured pain and sacrifice and showed boundless courage in the face of near certain death to accomplish her goals.

I suppose it depends on what your definition of "girly" is. 

reply

Says who? I took both of my sons to see this film and they enjoyed watching.

I must warn you. I'm very susceptible to flattery.

reply

Tired of men who only want man characters. Is your son not allowed to have a woman as a role model? Same old boring and conventional roles in your household I guess...

No puppet. No puppet. You're the puppet.

reply

Have you seen the movie? Its as much a boy movie as it is a girl movie. Its like saying The Lion King is only for boys.

They shouldn't be watching Dawn of Martha that's for sure.

Frozen was a girly flick with a dumb message. This wasn't. The strength and persistence of Moana and the lessons taught in the movie's overall message is very applicable to both sexes. I think boys should be forced to watch this so they know how a girl "should" act and strive to be like.
