When will it stop?

Another re-gurgitated Disney piece of *beep* animated movie that the corporate world will think is "a hit" because there is some quasi-celebrities doing voice over work (again.) just because "The Rock's" voice is in this piece of *beep* doesn't make it a good movie. The voice-over thing is LONG played out. Get some new ideas already. *beep* this piece of *beep* animated garbage.

Disney won't stop pandering to minorities and trends until the end of time. Just look at what they did with Star Wars. On a mission to ruin everything for everyone with more than half a brain cell.

reply

Then why are you complaining, since you clearly have none...

reply

The takeaway from backup's post is that if anyone other than a white male is cast in the movie it's ruined.

Pandering?? Disney is a worldwide entertainment company, since when are they supposed to be making movies for just your demo? It is a big world out there and lots of folks from many different cultures and ethnicities that like going to movies, especially families...and I am saying this as an old, suburban white guy... assuming you are too, I am so sorry that your life has been one to make you make statements like this. If you aren't old (must be white) then I am really sorry for the sort of insular life that lies ahead of you.

You mean progress?

When will it stop?

i hope never.

Come on, man, give the actors a chance!

Wait, you think it's bad just because there aren't some big-named people in there? Looks like you would like Trolls better.

I(don't) hate to burst your bubble, but Walt Disney Pictures has been casting celebrities since 1949 with The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad and Bing Crosby and Basil Rathbone. So a VERY LONG TIME, and it worked so well, that everyone started doing it for their animated features. It was only when Aladdin came out in 1992 that Disney started making the celebrity a big part of the advertising campaign. Moana by contrast, seems to be ignoring the fact they have Dwayne The Rock Johnson for the most part in it's marketing. I don't see where you are getting the idea that they are selling the film solely based on celebrities. Especially since the titular character is an unknown. As for him being a "quasi-celebrity, People magazine named him sexiest man alive this year. I don't think they give that to minor celebrities. As to the quality of the films, the casting of a celebrity does not hurt them. I love Wallace and Gromit, and Peter Sallis does the voice of Wallace. That doesn't hurt the quality of the finished product for Wallace and Gromit.

So to sum it up. Get some new ideas already. Your trite complaint about animated features is LONG played out.
