"Shiny" (the Villain Song)

Did anyone else find "Shiny" to be reminiscent of David Bowie?

It was somewhat weak as far as Disney villain songs go, but the seeming nod to a departed idol was appreciated.

A tangential addition, but it was humourous as well to hear Jemaine Clement once more be given a 'baddie' song about being beautiful, as he was in 'Rio.' It's his animated niche, I suppose.

I agree to everything in this thread. Easily the best part of the movie and ridiculously catchy (and awesome) Bowie tribute.

Honestly, it was probably my favorite part of the movie. It felt fresh and exciting. I just loved the whole sequence. Beautifully animated with a great song.

I really love how the action onscreen grew darker even as the song remained whimsical and "fabulous." I actually wish the juxtaposition was even more pronounced.

That was a cool song yes.

I was actually thinking Jarvis Cocker (of 1990s rock band Pulp) more than Bowie. Though Pulp was probably channeling Bowie a fair amount, so perhaps there's not much difference.

I think it was also my favorite of the movie's songs, with "You're Welcome" second.

I wasn't crazy about it. After the first snippet, I used the remaining song to go get a popcorn refill. When I came back it was just about over. Thanks goodness for the standard "filler" song.

I thought it was the weakest song in the film.

That damn song has been stuck in my head since I watched the movie. I had a feeling it was inspired by David Bowie.

I thought it sounded a lot like the song Goodbye Moonmen in Rick and Morty which Jermaine Clement also sang. People in the Youtube comments also said it sounded like David Bowie song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgqiSBxvdws
