Lack of great supporting characters (or any at all)

It is a pity a beautiful movie like this feels so empty and lonely. It was all wrong to choose the chicken as her sidequick instead of the pig in the first place. And Maui is poorly written and unlikeable most of the time. I feel this movie could have been greater with more characters introduced in the journey travelling along Moana.

I give it a 7/10 for the amazing visuals and the soundtrack.

I don't know if he was a real concept at one point, but they were going to give Moana a sidekick character in the form of a little tiki god named Moke Moke. I thought he was going to be like a tiki version of Olaf, unfortunately I can't find any more concept art of him to verify this. I think his concept got transferred over to make the Kakamora.

The pig was a comfort to Moana. And they wanted to make her journey as difficult as possible. So you were meant to feel her loneliness

And Maui was incredibly likeable and there was some real depth to him.

I was disappointed that Pua didn't join Moana and Heihei in the journey, but I loved Maui, and his backstory is quite sad and heartbreaking.

Adventure is out there!

How many characters can ride with her on that small canoe? Maui took up enough room for two people.

I have to credit the cast with what i can only describe as "beautiful" performances, to make this such an emotional and ultimately fulfilling movie The only A list star was Dwayne Johnson, in fact the main actress and heroine of the movie is virtually unknown. This is Auli'i debut performance, and to star in a Disney princess movie at the age of 14 and give such an incredible performance, its unbelievable, we're so proud of her.

Disney took so many risks with this movie, firstly doing a movie on an unknown and tiny race of people "Polynesians", then relying solely on Dwayne Johnsons pulling power. Most movies these days have at least 3 or 4 stars, look at "Sing". Then hiring an all Polynesian cast, bar one Allan Tudyk. Dont forget this Princess also doesn't have a romantic interest either. So much could have gone wrong with this movie, but despite all the risks, Disney produced an amazing movie. It wont make as much money as Frozen or Zootopia, and prob wont win as many awards, but i think for the first time especially with a POC, Disney has got something a lot better, THE LOVE AND RESPECT OF THE PEOPLE THE MOVIE REPRESENTS!!. Go Disney!!

Erm... Maui killed an eel and buried its guts, sprouted a tree now you've got coconuts. What's not to like about the supporting cast??
