I've been to dozens of screenings of The Room over the years, in multiple cities, and I've never seen a single empty seat.

The book has a 5 star rating on Amazon with almost 500 reviews.

The movie has a 4 1/2 star rating on Amazon with just shy of 1,000 reviews.

The movie has more than tripled its budget in earnings.

There are multiple fan sites, gatherings, and autograph signings dedicated to this flick.

And, Franco and his crew have a built in audience.

I don't deny that this is a crappy movie, but people (myself included) love it. Just because it doesn't fit with YOUR interests doesn't mean that you can't figure out on your own that there's an audience for it. And, it's not like it's expected to do Avengers numbers. There's an audience for just about anything...

"Hello, hello, what's all this shouting? We'll have no trouble here!"

You think the Room is crappy or the Disaster Artist?

reply

10 people? Maybe in 2007, but now The Room is definitely part of the cultural lexicon. If James Franco is making a feature film of it, more than 10 people have seen it....

reply

It's made $15 million on a $10 million dollar budget.
