Could they not have cast someone hotter than Zelweger?

So supposedly this woman was so hot that a perverted teenage kid spied on her in the shower and being raped. And their lawyer had an affair with her in spite of the risks of being close to her very dangerous husband.

What did people see in her? She has not aged well, is unhealthily skinny, and doesn't have a charming personality.

Could they not have cast someone who'd more obviously cause boners, if the story is to be believable?

I'm guessing they were relying on her star power to sell tickets rather than sell the story.

I didn’t even recognize her until I looked up the cast on this movie. She looks much different now.
