The previews ruined that scene

There was a lot of buildup in the movie about the champion and how much of a badass he was. But the secret had already been ruined by the previews. It would've been an amazing surprise if the previews hadn't given it away.

Other than that, I enjoyed the movie. My favorite Thor so far.

Agreed, would have been a great surprise! The script and story played it up as a surprise; seems like there was a disconnect between marketing and the Director's intent.

Actually I had forgotten so no love lost.

These movies need to stop ruining the surprises in their trailers. It ruins the movie for everyone.

Not a lost at all, and although I kind of agree with your POV, it had to be done. By letting people know that the Hulk is in the movie and showing a bit of their fight, it raises interest. Hulk didn't fair that well in his solo movie [or solo movies if we *gasp* remember Ang Lee's version] but was used effectively in Avengers. Many people want to see Hulk again [Loki's thrashing is damn good :D] so I think this way was quite well put together.

I agree completely, it would've been so cool if that hadn't been spoiled but the last Thor movie was one of the lesser loved MCU movies and I think by showing Hulk in the trailer they were likely winning back many of the viewers who may have been turned off by the last stand alone Thor movie.

Yeah, the way the movie builds this up gives you the impression you’re in for a huge surprise.... and it would have been if only Hulk’s appearance had been kept a secret. But that’s the thing, Hulk/Ruffalo’s involvement in this movie, and the gladiator-style fight between him & Thor, was revealed very early on. So let’s say the trailers/promos had omitted this big scene, somlly knowing Hulk was going to be in this movie would’ve spoiled who the champion was.

From a marketing aspect, I understand why Marvel decided to do this though. Ruins the surprise for viewers, but considering the last two Thor films didn’t prove to be as big as the others in the MCU (the reception for The Dark World probably left a bad mark), Marvel had to stir up excitement and interest in the third one by hyping up this showdown as much as they could. And it sure payed off.

The fight was still extremely enjoyable and turned out differently than I had expected.

Felt the same way. Would have loved to be surprised to see Hulk just show up rather than have the trailer spoil it.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here- https://youtu.be/9qSxC3AVAvA

I know, there are no surprises anymore, The Crown new trailer just gives all the series away.
