i wanna see one of the " films " be edited for like 1 hr 40 mins

i dare you hollywood, i double dare you MF

reply

Yeah. It's weird that they're making 3+ hour James Bond movies and four hour long superhero films.

reply

It's very odd. Maybe they're trying to give people a lot of bang-for-the-buck because of the hard times of 2020.

reply

It started ages ago. I blame Lord of the Rings. Blockbusters started being longer after that, I think.

reply

^ that's a good point!
i remember watching Lord of the Rings and wondering why it's not ending..

the beginning of the end i guess
-_-

reply

Mm...well, I'd disagree with Rings itself. LotR is more of an epic than an action movie, and the scope and scale of the film requires a long run-time. On the other hand, a film about a womanizing spy with a laser watch probably doesn't need to be made in such a way that you could throw in an intermission.

Another way to look at it is pacing. Whiplash is a perfectly paced film, for instance, with no "fat" in the picture. Other films feel "padded" and drag on.
