Carbon copy of FARGO

Fargo (1996) is one of my favorite movies of all time and this incredible TV show is eerily similar in almost every aspect. All of the characters, plot lines , and screenplay seem to be based on the Coen brothers work - and boy did they do a good job!

Some folks become so enamored of a favorite TV show, that they vehemently argue with anyone that dare suggest said TV show shares many characteristics with another piece of art. They suffer from a delusion that the show is so great, that it cannot possibly have stolen many of its' plot points from another film or TV show. This thread is a perfect example of such behavior.

yes, people ARE weird.

There's a deliciously dark humour that pervades them that provides the link. I wouldn't have said it was a copy though

It's what came to my mind as soon as I finished watching Episode 1 - this is like Fargo! And it is! It's funny people just going "no it's not." Because the basic premise is Fargo, the execution of that plot is different.

I have the blu ray box set and in the extra features I saw the interview of the writer / creator of the show Sally Wainwright... and she basically said she had watched Fargo and loved it... And had wanted to make her own version of it... which is what Happy Valley is. :)

I can watch the extras again and type out that section for you here if you want. :D
