i don't find this show funny whatsoever-this style of comedy is niche

I am really surprised at the universal love for this show, i watched one episode and HATED it. hated it because its a comedy and i found it so unfunny, i did not wince once.

i understand that comedy is subjective, but this show is definitely for a veryyyyy particular audience, yet it has such widespread love??

i'm all about giving shows a few episodes to grow on me but the fact that i found this insanely unfunny makes me not want to waste my time.

what is the appeal? the humor just seems really silly and dumb and unclever. there was one scene where kimmy just kept yelling her lines and THAT was supposed to be funny, the fact that she was yelling

I'm with you on this. I tried a few episodes, stopped watching, now I'm trying again. Really, it makes me cringe. I'm just running out of good series to watch on Netflix and Amazon, so I'm forging on anyway.

Though not series, some of my top comedies are Groundhog Day, My Cousin Vinny, Moonstruck, America's Sweethearts, Coming to America, Legally Blonde. Though I don't know if one can put romcoms in the same category as just straight comedy.

Of those, probably Vinny was the only one that actually made me laugh out loud, but all of them brought a smile and some delight.

I think America's Sweethearts might be kind of a sleeper. Each time I watch it, I see something I missed before. Besides, I love John Cusack, who is one of the stars.

I don't watch comedies usually because the vast majority are terrible but this is actually funny once you get towards the end of season 1.

Wot? This is one of the most accesible, mainstream comedies out there. It's not Louie

Try season 1. I agree it's borderline absurdist now. What the first season had was heart and sympathetic characters. The people were silly, but grounded in a situation that seemed slightly plausible. Now it's just a bunch of silly-pantses wearing their silly pants, falling down and hitting their bottoms. Then Titus does a dance number while Carol Kane says a crazy-old-lady quip.
