Time for a black Peter Pan?
People are touting Idris Elba as the next Bond, what about Peter Pan?

shareNo!!!! Never!!!!
shareHoe about a Mexican Pan? Call him Pedro Pan?
shareIf Peter Pan can be played by WOMEN (of all ages) why not a black ''Pan''.
shareHe was played by women for the stage show for logistical reasons only and they didn't play him as female. They keep him as a boy.
The women made themselves to look like a short undeveloped boy. Women for this role can only be max 5 foot 5, not curvy, and play this role. So if a black person can make themselves look like a thin 10-16 year old white boy with brown hair and blue/brown eyes, then yes, they can play the role too.

OF COURSE they kept him as a BOY. That was'nt my point.Even Veronica Lake (!) played Peter Pan on stage- flying suit and all.
shareThe original Peter Pan from the first Movie was played by a woman..
shareYes, but she played him as a *boy* not as female. As someone upthread said, a female has to have a certain shape to play Pan (ie. no boobs). Peter Pan was still a white boy when portrayed by females. Not the same thing as making him a person of color.

shareWell, for one, they could start with a Native American Tiger Lily.
shareHow about a latino transsexual lesbian pan?

Funny you mention this. Mya-Lecia Naylor http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4166623/, an upcoming British actress of colour (Cloud Atlas, Tati's Hotel) took her chances and auditioned for the role, even though the casting call specifically requested boys: http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/feb/10/hollywood-bosses-search-peter-pan

Unfortunately, there was no way in hell Joe Wright would have ever cast a black girl as Peter. It would have been a welcome change, though.
Please, it might seem fresh with recent events to make political statements with roles, but I think it would be a shallow gimmick. A point to make a point.
