Two words: f^ck this.
If the fan-favorite couldn’t be saved, especially after that acclaimed third season, then it’s obvious Marvel Netflix will be no more.
The only hope we have now is that Daredevil, along with the others, finds a new home on Disney’s streaming service (call it wishful thinking but Marvel just can’t let it end like this). There’s been talks that the cancellations have been happening because these shows WILL be moved to Disney’s service, but that’s merely speculation. Plus, word is viewer ratings dropped substantially for Fist and Cage. Reportedly DD lost viewers as well, but unlike IF and LC, it had strong buzz coming into season 3. And let’s be fair, DD was a widely acclaimed show. Anyway, how realistic would it be for these shows to be on a Disney service given their graphic content? Potentially something can be worked out. Stay tuned I guess.
I do hope there is a continuation. A show this epic can't end like this!
Couldn’t agree more. What’s worth noting about Netflix’s statement regarding the show’s cancellation, is they said that “the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel”... sure, could be bs talk with them trying to spin it, but hopefully it means what we think it means.
This show deserves to continue. I hope it goes elsewhere.
Is it possible that Marvel is addressing one of the big problems with the Netflix shows and actually promoting some of these to the actual MCU?
shareWhat big problems with the Netflix shows?
That they are in the MCU without being a PART of the MCU?
shareMaybe that’s only a piece of the puzzle. But according to some, lif the likes of Daredevil and the Punisher get promoted into the larger MCU, they’re going to be new iterations. That’s right, Marvel/Disney will basically cast new actors and they’ll do something different with these characters regardless if they end up on Disney+ or the big screen. This is not unlikely.... after all all, the connections between the Marvel Netflix shows and the films were, yes, almost non-existence. Marvel can easily introduce new versions of the Defenders team into the MCU.
I’m not too thrilled by that idea but obviously this is not up to any fan. What’s certain is Netflix, not Disney, decided not to renew the shows. There’s a number of theories floating around about why they didn’t (money, low ratings, this being some sort of retaliation against Disney+), but whatever the reasons it’s disappointing that this happened. If there is the slightest chance that this incarnation of Daredevil - and the rest of the shows - gets moved over to Disney+ or even Hulu, then that would be the best thing.
If this means we'll get to see DD in the Phase4 movies I'm all for it.
shareAwful news... I expect the final two shows -- Punisher and Jessica Jones -- will be similarly axed after their upcoming seasons. I sure hope they either turn up on Disney or make the jump to the MCU.
shareThis news honestly evoked more emotions in me than any event in at least months.
This is terrible. I really hope Netflix releases at least one more Defenders or something to wrap up the franchise.
It’s obvious at this point Punisher and Jessica Jones are having their final seasons.
Not sure Netflix is worth keeping anymore. This was a huge attraction for me as well as the other Marvel shows. DD imo was better than the vast majority of mcu films. We can expect the other Marvel shows to be cancelled after their next seasons. Hate that there is multiple streaming services now each having a few good shows as I'm sure DD and co ends up on Disney's.
shareIron fist and Luke Cage i can understand but this. After having it's best season yet. They must plan on moving these shows to Disneys upcoming streaming service.Nothing else makes sense. Why would up and cancel one of their best shows.
shareI don't understand this either, in the least. They keep saying they wanted to exit on a "high note", but this is like ending Breaking Bad without finishing the story.
This truly SUCKS!
shareSince Marvel had already informed Netflix they will not be getting any further properties from them, best guess is they are divesting themselves of the ones they have while they are on top rather than let them run their course. Possibly these will be moved over to the Disney service once all the paperwork is finalized.
shareGuessing Disney set the terms so high that Netflix couldn't renew it. Guessing it will reboot on Disney streaming service at some point.
