Anyone else thought Caliban managed to kill Pierce ?

Yeah, I thought he was killed, too. Guess they were going for an element of surprise when he survived.

Same here. We’re all familiar with the cliche of the main bad guy “coming back to life” after having seemingly been killed off (whether it’s in the film’s climax or, in Logan’s case, the second half) in almost every movie. However, I myself thought that Pierce was pretty much done after that close call - the fact that he wasn't on screen for a good while fooled me. I do like how this played out, though. It certainly would've been a pleasant surprise if Caliban had actually gotten the job done, but if you ask me they did a nice job making Pierce's return unexpected.

Actually, I thought it a pretty bad plot hole.

If you're going to blow someone up with a grenade, you don't announce it, wait a second, then drop it, you pull the pins, release the spoons, and drop them at the feet of the person you're trying to eradicate.

And the moment he was blown out of the truck, I know he was still alive. If he never got out, and all you saw was the truck blowing up, then you know he's dead.

Yeah, that was dumb to bring him back fine. The least they could've done is blow off part of his face, have him badly burned, maybe an artificial leg, or something!

Nah, they showed somebody jumping out of the back of the van just as the van exploded. I knew it would be Pierce because he was the big villain.
