Masterpiece

Youth is hands down one of the year's best. Cast is superb (Caine, Keitel, Dano, Weisz, Fonda), cinematography is outstanding.
I hope it makes it to the Oscars.

LOL

Why the LOL? What is the big joke? Huh, another stupid american...please go to The Hunger Games boards...

reply

What's the point of mentioning that Miley Cyrus movie?

reply

Couldn't agree more. Don't think it'll make it to the Oscars though.

reply

Agreed. So many memorable scenes

reply

yeah one of the best, great movie like this and the lobster are getting overshadowed by mediocre trash like the martian and black mass

reply

The Martian wasn't mediocre in my opinion but other than that I agree.

I finally just got to see this film, and I agree it is definitely one of the year's best films.

I thought it was absolutely beautiful.

I think one may need be a little older and have lived a bit to really "get" the film. You don't have to be geriatric or anything, but I doubt most millennials, teens and tweens will truly get it.

Also, it is extremely well-acted and gorgeous. Very moving.

reply

Yes, it definitely was a fine film. It made it to my top 10 movies of 2015 and it's certainly worthy of its nomination. Black Mass isn't too shabby, although it is a notch below the other great films this year.

reply

Cant believe all the positive feedback for this movie. Apart from the Cinematography which was superb.......the rest of the movie dull and boring. I sat through waiting for something to hook me and .....well.....ended up walking off. It would be one of THE most boring movies I have ever seen!

reply

Agree, one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Very silly, poorly written, pretentios, a waste of great actors and my $10. The only thing that came to ,y mind when I left the theater was "How dare they..."

reply

Why "masterpiece", specifically? An assessment this general is like reciting in words the star rating you gave the movie.

reply

It is one of my favorite movies of the year. I guess I could go with Masterpiece. It feels more like a masterpiece than some movies I rate higher, if that makes sense.

Masterpiece seems like a certain specific type of thing which this is for me. Like I wouldn't think to call Spotlight a masterpiece but I have it rated a bit higher than Youth.

Maybe that doesn't make sense. Whatever.

Oscar material? I doubt it, but I enjoyed Youth very much.

reply

I agree.
