Anyone else think Season 2 is it?
The way the plot seems to be moving, anyone think this season is gonna be it for the show?

shareI don't think this will be it. I think the setup for the story right now could end with much of the main plot wrapped up but with something with the Queen that gets carried over for another season. This isn't just a pet project it's also that whole UK government deal thing. There's more in play than the ratings the show gets when it airs in the USA and as bad as the ratings may be, they are at least on par with many CW shows.
shareAlas, I think that if this show has a future, it's on Broadway. Given the low ratings for Season 1, and the merciful renewal, followed by even LOWER ratings in Season 2, I can hardly even blame them for calling it a wrap.
If I were in the decision-making chair, as much as I love the show, you gotta get down to the bottom line at some point, because everybody has somebody to answer to. In that chair, you have to ask, "If we're making this great show, and nobody's watching, what are we doing it for? For me?" You'd have board members to answer to for that.
But if the powers that be do believe in this, maybe it's just not meant for television. Maybe musicals will always have trouble finding their audience on TV. CRAZY EX GIRLFRIEND is having the same problem, and it's also very good. (Not as good as GALAVANT, but it's good.) Everybody knows where that audience exists. I think this show, and these songs, could make for a phenomenal hit on Broadway.
I do think they can pull-off a third season... The 2nd season got 100% of the critics at the Rotten Tomatos...
The audience rating might not be very good, but it is a show to cover for other series hiatus... This season came and went in five weeks only...
I believe in "A NEW SEASON FOR OUR HERO AND PALS" next year!
Sadly it looks like its been cancelled
shareThere's no "looks like" to it. It's been cancelled, period.
shareNot exactly true, cancelled by ABC but it can easily be picked up by another network, or a something like hulu (sister company to ABC) or netflix, amazon etc. which seems to be rather popular now!
There is quite a big following to this and it seems the creators/cast are willing to do more. http://fansided.com/2016/05/19/karen-david-interview-galavant-fan-campaign/
Of course it's not 100% or even 50% but it's definitely not cancelled 'period' until the actual creator stops doing it...
I for one, would love to see this being picked up by someone else. The start of season 1 was pretty bad but at the end of season 1 I was pretty much in love with it! Season 2 was twice as good...
Someone who contacted Netflix says they were told they are seriously considering picking it up given the amount of people asking, but that's not 100% confirmed.
shareWith it's large following, I think it has a fairly good chance if they are in consideration. I'd love to see it on netflix personally both in terms of budget and creative control... Would like to see it get a little bit darker, especially with the queen becoming superduper evil and tad cooper fully formed! Obviously not anything like a mature, but something a little bit edgier then a soft PG, without destroying it's pantomime-like feeling that is.
Feel like they could have a lot more jabs at pop culture too, especially ABC, without any sort of network politics!
Have you seen the thank you video the cast put together for the #MoreGalavant campaign? https://vimeo.com/167835629
shareAwesome, thanks for linking that! The amount of passion the cast and crew have for it, as well as the fans is really making me hopeful!
Think Galavant has so much more scope and potential!!
Yeah the plotline and ending was a lot more definite than the first season, which was very obvious they'd be another season. This season tied everything up yet introduced a few plots last minute in the finale, just in case there is a renewal and therefore something to set up the next season with. I thought the finale worked as a final ending too.
