aside from a few decent jokes posted online.... kinda weak

his 2018 comedy special was better - better jokes, better delivery

This time, they decided to do things live - the result wasn't 'awesome'

Only a few jokes got me laughing - the writing wasn't great - and even the delivery suffered. He should have taped a few versions of this standup routine and then picked the best version where at least the delivery isn't an issue.

I don't really *get* 'stand-up comedy'

It's rarely funny in its (alleged) heyday (Bruce, Pryor, Hicks, etc) but nowadays consists of any fucker getting their own specials, containing little else but weak "pro/anti-woke" or "my kids don't understand me" material (bolstered only by over-eager "whooping" from a, presumably pre-paid audience?)

Joe Rogan isn't even an interesting conversationalist (let alone, remotely funny)

Fair enough - which comedy do you get though?

Stand up comedy has its origins in plain story telling - something that was common prior the invention of TVs and other tech.
Most human beings are wired to be receptive to story telling.

Isn't it interesting how our societies and brains have been hijacked and the form of art which span thousands of years is being replaced by us staring at the screens with little to no @real@ human interaction?

In regards to comedy, I think I prefer something a little more orchestrated and plot driven...than just a series of observations?

There are some funny guys out there. Some of Rogan's guests (very few) who are comedians, are really funny. Rogan is not funny at all. He tries too hard.

I can’t wait to check it out. Haven’t seen him doing standup in a long time. I hope it’s edgy. Everyone’s got their own taste when it comes to comedy. I hope he talks about current events too.

a few of his jokes were used in the advert - and it's too bad that I saw them, because they were the best ones @@
I figured he'd continue on those same topics during the actual show, but he usually just drops off and changes topics - so I was left wondering wtf.

Perhaps not seeing any of the advertised material might be best - it's likely that I was all the more disappointed because my expectation of him continue to talk about those topics were not met.

It was like watching Louis CK - too much masturbation - but the midget version.
