People complaining about DeNiro smoking at the end

After reading through some comments I noticed a surprising amount of people commenters writing that they were flabbergasted that DiNero’s character was able to light a cigarette in the bus without an explosion or eruption of flames. That is a weak reason to rip on a movie, let alone a totally inaccurate idea of how fires start. There was not even close to the concentration of fumes from the gas necessary to ignite. It was maybe half of one container of gas splashed onto someone who left, so it wasn’t a huge quantity, not to mention all of the broken windows and open door allowing for the fumes to disparate. Also the burning match and cigarette were not thrown into the puddle of gas, just lighting a cigarette in the presence of gasoline does not cause some kind of insane explosion. Even if it were to manage to catch, and then manage to ignite the gas in the container, it would not explode in a manner to kill someone sitting multiple feet away from it, it it were to even explode at all and not just erupt in flames. I am a long term smoker and used to burn things/start fires with my friends for fun (Lots of people have a phase like that, but I took it to another level for years) and can tell you from personal experience that he would not have died in some firery explosion. Especially considering that no gas had been poured onto him at all. If you don’t believe me watch Mythbusters, there are many relevant episodes, especially the one where they try their best to make a car’s gastank explode, unsuccessfully I might as except under the precisely correct circumstances.
