shareI disagree. First, would you consider yourself a hero if you were in his shoes? Second, he never asked to be a hero. Thirdly, he's just a great pilot with years of experience who did what he had to do to survive. Plain and simple.
Nobody on this planet is worthy of the title hero. We're all equally human.
Dont get me wrong what Sully did was/is amazing and with the modern terms ye you can call him a hero.
Having said that the Hero definition is far away from it.
The word Hero comes from ancients Greece and noone can be called a Hero without suffering and dying for the cause << Thats the original definition of a Hero.
Couldn't agree with you more! I also thought that this was Tom Hanks' best film since "Captain Phillips!" Loved them both so much that I picked them up right away!

Big movie scriptwriters and directors (especially comic books & action/adventure movies) need to gaze away from their own navels and start writing actually heroic characters in movies again... All of this neurotic self-obession with childhoods, being victims and such is ruining movies... Leave that for morose TV shows instead...
