Why are the ratings so low. - Empire (2015) Discussion

This season has been good way better than last season so I don't understand.

1.IMO, Rhonda's death is still hanging without a closure. Lots of fans got mad about that.

2. Jamal losing his singing mojo and getting all caught up in this drug crisis is rubbing some fans the wrong way.

3. TOO MANY D@AMN BREAKS if you ask me. The week before Thanksgiving, the ratings had picked up because of all the excitement after coming back from a 3 weeks break and then the break off again for Thanksgiving. This is getting ridiculous. Even a die hard fan as myself is really starting to get sick of it because by the time you get hyped up about the story, they are off on another break again.

Now we only have 2 episodes left and then they will break off again for another 4 whole d@mn months. Talk about killing a show's momentum.

I am not surprised at all.

Off course things will pick up a little bit before the winter finale but I don't know how the return in March will be. Some people may have lost all the enthusiasm for the show altogether.

yeah, i really don't understand this at all

although i have to say, last nite was one of the better episodes in awhile...so we'll see where they leave it off

This is a better season than the others because the previous ones were all over the place. This is more about the family and all the conniving and backstabbing....it's like the old time Dynasty and Dallas shows, IMO.
The reason ratings so low is because: a) cable is stealing a lot of audience; b) it's no longer a must-see TV show and it probably lost a lot of white viewers; c) not many network shows are doing well ratings-wise and some of them are even cancelled.

It's good that Empire is still on and not cancelled. Black-ish too has low ratings but ABC is staying with it.

There is only one Breakout TV ratings show-This is US. The other TV shows are doing just so-so.

And Empire is still doing better than This Is Us. Even with that said, it's really no reason for me to compare a show in it's third season to a show in it's first season. It's going to be a long time before Empire is cancelled. lol

It's one of the top five most watched shows on television. It was never going to continue to get 16 million views an episode.

alot of people are streaming now instead of doing cable which can be decrease in ratings.

This season is better than season 2, but still pretty bland. I'm not surprised the ratings are bad.

It feels like the show is losing steam and this season isn't really good. As another poster put it, it's pretty bland.
