Do pretty slim blondes really fall for poor chubby bakers in real life?

Well?

reply

Well, in theory telepaths would go for things other than appearance.

Also, this: http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000130/nest/263626706

reply

Ah! Now I get it. :)

reply

Agree with your first point -- hadn't thought about it that way before.

Unfortunately, I can't address the second point because IMDb decided to Darwin Award itself.

reply

Darwin Award itself...love it

5 Years later I'm still puzzled by IMDb's self-avadakedavraing. I can see the numerous complaints by industry professionals and entities, but the whole thing started with messages on Usenet.

reply

Surely someone who can read people's minds would automatically be more attracted to what someone thinks than just their physical appearance.

reply

I see. It's what matters what's inside!

My mom always told me that!

reply

And you know what? That's kind of what Harry Potter is about,

Listening to a podcast reminded me of one part of the movie. He tells here there are thousands of guys like him, and her response was "No there aren't."

As that great philosopher Bugs Bunny said, "Something tells me I shoulda stood in bed."

reply

It makes perfect narrative sense....

...but it's still a lie perpetuating a fiction that keeps the little guy in line

reply

Where's the fiction? Look around you...

reply

No.

Rich chubby bakers, yes.

No tears please, it's a waste of good suffering.

reply

Ha! Like Emeril Leggase!

Fair enough!

If he was a rich succesful baker it would be more believable.

reply

By the end of the film, Jacob was running an incredibly successful bakery.

But she'd fallen for him well before that

reply

Maybe she got a chance to taste his goods and fell in love with him then.

reply

Why not.

If I were JK Rowlins I'd trash the script to the next film and rewrite it with Kowalski and Queenie as our new heroes.

Whats his name tragically dies and they take the magical case and begin an magical adventure to capture some fantastic beasts. Sounds good to me. Go for it JK, our lives and the fate of the universe depend on it.

reply

That's genuinely exactly what I want.

They were the best two characters in the whole thing and I hope the high hope there's a civil rights stylation of no maj-magical relationships centered around them in future films in general anyway

reply

Those two characters only shone because of the contrast with the other characters.

They contrasted because they were interesting, fleshed out and well acted.

It'd be kinda hard to do that if you accept Rowling's extra-canon announcements -- the info she's given regarding what happened to the characters after Deathly Hallows.

One of them was that Luna married Newt & Tina's grandson. They're not married yet nor does the son yet exist, so at the very least the both of them are going to be around for at least one more movie, probably all of them.

As that great philosopher Bugs Bunny said, "Something tells me I shoulda stood in bed."

reply

You'd be surprised. Not every slim woman is as shallow as you are.

Many more than fit, blonde men fall for chubby lady bakers. In fact, it's probably never happened.

reply

She's not specifically a baker, and she's only chubby by US standards, but TV chef Nigella Lawson is a bit of a sex symbol here in the UK.

No tears please, it's a waste of good suffering.

reply

"Chubby lady bakers" and you think of Nigella Lawson and not these two?

You think about them if that's your thing - each to their own. (Though you may be barking up the wrong tree, even if they were still with us)  . I'll think about the lovely Nigella.

reply

It's more that Lawson is not a chubby baker. ;)
