Johansson so miscast
I’d rather have seen someone like Brie Larson in the role.
Taller.
Hotter.
Younger.
My guess is they didn’t want comparisons made to “Kong: Skull Island”. Which the movie from the trailer kind of has shades of anyway.
I like Edwards as a director but Jordan Vogt-Roberts would have killed this.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts did a great job on that movie but I’m still shocked he was chosen since he has nothing on his resume before that qualifying him for a big budget action monster movie.
I’d like to know exactly why he was chosen from the more experienced directors out there.
It was at the early stages of that time when studios were hiring indie directors for blockbusters. Vogt-Roberts was hired in 2014 three years before its release and just months after the Godzilla reboot did well enough to launch the Monsterverse. That was also directed by Gareth Edwards (another former nobody-for-hire) so it looks like everything came around full circle between the Monsterverse and the Jurassic Park/World franchise.
